A very relaxing and refreshing place with a great atmosphere. It was also really clean and well kept and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We really did not want to leave, my husband says that he would move to Taupo just to come here everyday.
Had great time at Wairakei Terraces Thermal Hot Pools. The place is absolutely heaven on earth. Very friendly and accommodating staff. They even help me to charged my GoPro, so that I can continue taking beautiful photos. The best place in Taupo to visit specially in winter.
All I can say is that even though it was nice to visit the pools, the staff service was horrible at the canteen/eatery. Staff refused to provide service since we were "wet" we dried down, put on clothes and even had jandals on our feet before entering, and yet we were told to stand outside until we were dry before we would be assisted. This was truely demeaning. We decided to call it a day and visit another place where we were gladly assisted upon arrival. As a local to the community, this reflect poorly to tourism.
Great venue for its purpose.. Needs a better cleaning out regime.. Over a.couple visits of weekends and on Fridays after apparent Thursday night clean out, still lots of mess on the floor of all pools where trees over hang. Particular ethnicities wearing street clothing in pools, I get it but totally unusual. Best time in the morning when numbers are minimal.. Otherwise busy weekends... Packed..
