Learning to surf at the beautiful Tauranga Bay on the wild West Coast of the South Island is a memory you will cherish forever!
Mark the owner of West Coast Surf is a long time and very passionate coach, he loves to see his students succeed and to share his wealth of knowledge with you.
A learn to surf session with West Coast Surf includes the surfboard and wetsuit hire and 2 hours of coaching. It will set you up for some further learning on your travels and help you to develop great technique and skills.
All you need to bring along is a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, warm clothes for afterward and a big smile. Encourage your family and friends to join you for this fun and invigorating activity in nature at its best!

Just amazing
Me and my husband spontaneously decided to book two surf lessons with Mark. We are both amazed by Marks enthusiasm and motivation. In the beginning we learned about the theoretical background, shortly after we could practice it in the water. After a few tries we were both able to stand on the board and surf our first small waves. Mark was also able to keep up our motivation as he always pointed out aspect we did well. We 100% recommend to learn surfing with Mark!

What a great lesson!! Mark is such a great coach and as a newbie I felt confident and comfortable enough to get standing on my first lesson with him. He was patient and encouraging and I had a blast!! Will definitely be back.

Great Surf lesson
We had a really great time and had a lot of fun. Marc did a really good Job. He explained everthing very good and helped us a lot to stand on the Board.

Lovely experience!
This was a really good introduction to surfing! The teachers are very experienced and try to teach you some proper surfing skills unlike many other companies. After that you head to the beach with your teacher and get some further advice and good help from them. The last hour you are free to practice to surf as you like.Weird they left us alone then and did not say goodbye properly though. Overall I would recommend it! Tauranga Bay is a beautiful and challenging but manageable place to try surfing for the first time.
